Hilary Davidson’s THE DAMAGE DONE (Forge, 2010) — called a “razor sharp mystery debut” by Publishers Weekly — won the 2011 Anthony Award for Best First Novel and the Crimespree Award for Best First Novel. The book was also a finalist for the Arthur Ellis and Macavity awards. Buy the book. 


Hilary’s second novel, THE NEXT ONE TO FALL, was published by Forge on February 14, 2012. According to Publishers Weekly, “The rich history and geography of Peru add depth to an engrossing mystery that constantly keeps the reader guessing.” Library Journal adds, “Davidson's follow-up to her Anthony Award-winning debut will leave you breathless.” Read the reviews. Her third novel, EVIL IN ALL ITS DISGUISES, was released by Forge on March 5, 2013. Hilary is currently a finalist for the 2013 Derringer Award for Best Short Story for “A Special Kind of Hell.” She won the 2010 Spinetingler Award for Best Short Story for Insatiable,” now in Beat to a Pulp: Round One. Her story “The Other Man” was a finalist for a 2012 Spinetingler Award. Hilary’s first published story, “Anniversary,” is featured in A Prisoner of Memory and 24 of the Year’s Finest Crime and Mystery Stories (Pegasus, 2008). Her “Son of So Many Tears” appears in Blood, Guts, and Whiskey (Kensington, 2010). Read her short fiction.


Hilary is also the author of 18 nonfiction books, including Frommer’s New York City Day by Day. Originally from Toronto, she has lived in New York since October 2001. Her articles have appeared in more than 40 magazines, including Discover, American Archaeology, Fitness, Reader’s Digest, Chatelaine, Canadian Living, and Martha Stewart Weddings. In March 2008, she founded the Gluten-Free Guidebook, an online resource for people who have celiac disease.
